Ferdinand blasts Man United stars, insists Carabao Cup not enough

Pundit and former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand has taken a swipe at Red Devils players following their 2-0 loss to top four rivals, Newcastle United on Sunday.

Man United were outclassed by the Magpies in the match at St. James’ Park, which saw Joe Willock and Callum Wilson score two goals that took them above the visitors on goal difference in the second half.
Reacting to the defeat, Ferdinand asserted that Man United players are now started relaxing, thinking they have done enough for the season because they have the Carabao Cup in the bag already.
Erik ten Hag’s side’s form has dropped since going on a long unbeaten run and winning the Carabao Cup in February.

After a 7-0 annihilation in the hands of arch-rivals, Liverpool, they were also held to a goalless draw by bottom of the table Southampton.

Speaking about Man United’s poor run of form, Ferdinand said; “It seems like they’ve won the Carabao Cup and downed tools. They think they’ve done enough, that’s what it feels like.”
“We were looking in a really good position [to finish in the top four]. Now it’s a lottery because no one’s got any real vein of form at the minute,” he added.

The Red Devils dropped out of Premier League’s top four to 5th position on Monday night after Tottenham played a 1-1 draw with Everton at Goodison Park.

However, the red half of Manchester, will be hoping to get back to winning ways in their next game on Wednesday night when they host Brentford, who trashed them 4-0 in the reversed fixture and now have their own European ambition after exceeding all expectations.
