Dangote Refinery raises petrol retail price to N839 from N739

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased the ex-gantry price of its premium motor spirit, also known as petrol, to N799 per litre.

The company stated this on Monday in a statement made available to journalists.

According to the $20 billion refinery plant, its gantry price for petrol is now N799 per litre, while the retail price is N839 per litre—an increase from the N699 and N739 per litre rates held since December last year.

“Under the current alignment, the PMS gantry price is N799 per litre, while MRS retail outlets are selling at N839 per litre,” the company stated.

The Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, David Bird, also stated that the refinery continues to supply the domestic market with approximately 50 million litres of PMS daily, with nationwide evacuation and distribution operating normally.

As of Monday night, retail filling stations, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, were still dispensing petrol at between N739 and N830 per litre.

However, Dangote’s fuel price increment is expected to trigger a petrol price hike across the country’s downstream sector.
