CAN urges Tinubu to address insecurity, hunger 

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has tasked the Federal Government to urgently address insecurity and economic hardship as well as sectarian crisis ravaging the country.

 

Speaking in a message to felicitate with Muslims on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Maulud celebration, in Abuja, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, the President of CAN, charged Nigerian leaders to prioritise policies that will ease the suffering of the citizens and ensure justice and equity for everyone.
“It is only through good governance and transparent leadership that we can restore hope and confidence in our nation’s future,” Okoh said.
“As Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Maulud, we in CAN expresses hopes that the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, PBUH, will inspire Nigerians to pursue justice, peace, and a united Nigeria.”

He stated that Nigeria’s strength lies in its cultural and religious diversity, adding that it is imperative to enthrone solidarity among the populace.
“Let us use this celebration to renew our commitment to fostering peace and understanding among all Nigerians,” he preached.
“In these trying times, it is imperative that we stand together in solidarity, transcending religious and ethnic barriers.

“Let us use this celebration to renew our commitment to fostering peace and understanding among all Nigerians.

”We are stronger when we work together towards common goals, and it is through mutual respect and dialogue that we can build a more harmonious society.

“Let us encourage our communities to engage in acts of kindness and support for one another, particularly for those who are less fortunate,” he said, urging religious leaders to continuously promote tolerance and coexistence in their messages.
Muslim faithful on Monday celebrated the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, which was marked with a public holiday.

President Bola Tinubu, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, had congratulated and urged the Muslims to use the period for deep reflection and remembrance of the Holy Prophet’s exemplary conduct and noble teachings,
pray for the country and show empathy and compassion toward one another.

“As we mark the Maulud, we should all reflect on the life lived by Prophet Muhammad, exemplified by purity, selflessness, perseverance, kindness and compassion. We must endeavour to imbibe those virtues,” he said.
