APC picks Idahosa as Edo deputy governorship candidate

After a bitter governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state, leaders of the party have settled for Dennis Idahosa as deputy governorship candidate.

The primary election had split the APC into two fractious groups. Those for Monday Okpebholo, the man who won a controversial primary election on February 23, and those for Idahosa, who lost out in the second primary election after initially emerging victorious in the first one.

It is now gathered that the APC has settled for Idahosa as running mate f Okpebholo. Both men would be presented to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and national secretary, Sen. Ajibola Bashiru later today.

Idahosa is to replace Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama who was announced by the governorship candidate last week as his running mate.

According to reports, Idahosa, a House of Representatives member emerged on Sunday night after a prolonged meeting by stakeholders from Edo, the party leadership and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Also in the meeting were the party’s flag bearer, Senator Monday Okpebholo, former Edo Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomole and Hon. Idahosa.
