Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has resigned from his position.

Ganduje’s sudden resignation was announced by the former Kano State governor himself on Friday.

He cited his health condition, saying he needed to quit his post to concentrate on his well-being.

According to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to former President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday, Ganduje’s resignation takes immediate effect.

“The National Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress(APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has resigned from his position, effective immediately, as confirmed by multiple sources,” Ahmad’s post read.

Following his exit, the National Vice Chairman of the party is expected to fill in the gap in the interim, till g the party’s national convention slated for December this year.

Ganduje has faced strong opposition of late, as some party stalwarts from the North Haven mounted pressure on him as a result of his leadership style.

He was assaulted at a party event in the North-east recently and had to be smuggled out while APC stakeholders in the North Central zone, have also repeatedly demanded the return of the chairmanship position to their region.
