Yahaya Bello’s female ADC arrested over allegation of aiding his escape
The female Aide De Camp (ADC) of former Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has been reportedly arrested by the police.
The unnamed ADC, according to a report by the Daily Post, was picked up alongside other police officers attached to the embattled former governor.
They were arrested on the suspicion that they aided and abetted Bello’s escape from security operatives, who besieged his Abuja home on Wednesday to effect his arrest.
Prior to this development, the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun had on Thursday night directed the immediate withdrawal of all officers attached to Bello.
The order, which was contained in a police wireless message, followed the disappearance of Bello from his Abuja home after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) besieged the residence.
The anti-graft agency had also declared Bello wanted, urging Nigerians with useful information about his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.
Meanwhile, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, has denied reports that Governor Usman Ododo shielded ex-Governor Yahaya Bello from being arrested by the EFCC.
He made this known on Friday, while featuring on a Channels Television programme.
Speaking during the chat, he said: “Governor Ododo did not assist in Bello’s departure from his residence; the EFCC’s claims are misinformation aimed at furthering their objectives.”
While defending his principal, he further asserted that former governor of Kogi State is not evading arrest because he has “existing court injunction” that is protecting his fundamental rights.
“Bello is not evading anyone; the existing court injunction protects his fundamental rights.” Fanwo added.
