NLC president, Ajaero arrested in Abuja

The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly arrested the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero.

Ajaero was arrested this morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on his way to the United Kingdom for an official assignment.

The NLC president was expected in the United Kingdom where he was to attend the Trade Union Congress conference in London.

The conference begins today.

It is not yet clear why Ajaero was arrested.

The NLC President has, however, been having a running battle with security agencies in Nigeria over allegations of treason and cyber terrorism.

Ajaero was invited by the Police two weeks ago over the issues but was released afterwards.

He was subsequently invited again for some undisclosed offence. He was yet to answer to that invitation.
