5,000 people to benefit from UBOMI medical outreach by PISTIS Foundation in Lagos
Non-Governmental Organisation, Pistis Foundation is set to provide free medical and surgical outreach for 5,000 people through its health project; UBOMI Medical Outreach in Lagos.
Ubomi medical outreach is a free medical program held annually to provide medical and surgical succour to the economically challenged and underserved members of select communities.
Announcing its kick off in a press conference on Thursday in Lagos, founder of the foundation, Godman Akinlabi said that the medical outreach 5.0 will begin from September 30th to October 4th, 2024 at Lifepointe PISTIS Annex, Lekki, Lagos.
He said the outreach will provide medical, surgical, dental, eye, pharmaceutical and laboratory services, amongst other things.
Akinlabi disclosed that so far, over 21,100 medical interventions have been carried out successful with no recorded death to the glory of God.
According to him, being used as a channel to impact lives in Nigeria through its foundation, and inspiring others around the world, is the motivation that has kept him running over the years, “Seeing people regain their sights through surgery, is just like a miracle. This time, it is not spiritual but medical science. As a pastor, I may not afford to lay hands on all of them, seeing them go through this surgery and to come back seeing, it’s a miracle. I am grateful to God for that and to the glory of God no death has been recorded,” he said.
Also, general manager, Pistis foundation, Leonard Thomas, the annual Ubomi free medical and surgical outreach has provided primary medical and surgical care to over 10,000 individuals facing a number of health challenges, “133 bright but underserved children have been placed in top tier primary and secondary schools mainly across south-west and south-south region of Nigeria, with a commitment to support them till the completion of their university education,” he said.
Akinlabi also disclosed that part of their challenges is facilities, “Getting facilities from different hospitals for the outreach is a challenge. For the period of four days, the hospitals that owns these equipments would have to cease operation, the doctors will be occupied, so, it’s a challenge but, we are looking at building our own hospital so do we don’t have to go through those stress,” he said.
